Ingredients:

 

5 eggs

150g fine sugar

500 ml fresh milk

1 tsp vanilla essence

1 tsp cinnamon powder/ nutmeg powder

1 tbsp butter

1 loaf wholemeal bread

Apricot jam *optional*

Method:

​

1) Cut the bread into small triangle slices.

2) Grease a round cake tin with butter or oil and sprinkle some sugar. 

3) Layer the bread slices until the cake tin is full.

4) Whisk 500 ml of fresh milk with eggs, fine sugar and vanilla essence.

5) Season it with nutmeg or cinnamon powder.

6) Pour the mixture on top of the bread layers.

7) Put some butter on top of the layers and bake for about 20-30 minutes, at 180C

8) Leave it cool. Glaze with apricot jam.

9) Sprinkle some raisins or almond flakes on top.
